Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar and West Indies fast-bowling great Courtney Walsh will coach the Ponting XI and Warne XI respectively in the Bushfire Cricket Bash set to be played on February 8.
The bushfire relief cricket match is one of three headline acts on the cricket's day of giving 'The Big Appeal' with Tendulkar and Walsh joining former Australian captain Ricky Ponting and Shane Warne as leaders of the two sides.
"We are absolutely honoured to be welcoming Sachin and Courtney back to Australia, where they both enjoyed a lot of success as players, and we can't wait to have them involved in what is going to be a special day," said Kevin Roberts, Cricket Australia Chief Executive Officer.
"Both in the ICC Hall of Fame, Sachin is the greatest run-scorer of all time in international cricket, and we all remember what Courtney could do with the ball, taking more than 500 Test wickets.
"We're looking forward to our people at CA and the entire Australian cricket family coming together for the Big Appeal."
The charity match will be the curtain-raiser to the Big Bash final on February 8, with the venue yet to be determined. Both matches, as well as Australia's women's T20 match against India at Junction Oval on the same day.
Former Australian cricketers confirmed to play include Ponting, Warne, Justin Langer, Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee, Shane Watson, Alex Blackwell and Michael Clarke. Steve Waugh and Mel Jones will be involved in a non-playing capacity. The remaining players and further details about The Big Appeal will be announced in the next two weeks.

MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar to play in the charity game?

But in a recent development, it has been confirmed that legendary players not only from Australia but also from other countries including India could feature in the charity game.
Indian cricket heavyweights, Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni are in line to play the Fundraising Bushfire Cricket League under the captaincy of either Shane Warne or Ricky Ponting. It wouldn't come as a surprise if the likes of MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar decide to play the game.
Cricket has witnessed numerous charity games to raise money for victims of natural disasters. In 2005, a host of big names had played the World XI v Asia XI game at the MCG to help those affected by the tsunami. Sachin Tendulkar Speak about ISRO & India

Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar heaped praise on Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for their efforts on the Chandrayaan 2, the second lunar mission of the country. He said that the space agency will not just get the country to the moon, but to farther galaxies.

It has to be noted here that ISRO lost its lunar lander Vikram and rover Pragyaan while attempting a soft landing on our satellite. However, they were successful in establishing the orbiter in the moon’s orbit on September 6, but the whole country was proud of the space organization and its scientists for being able to complete 95% of the mission on their first try.

In a tweet, Sachin Tendulkar remembered Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian to travel in space. In 1984, Sharma became the first Indian citizen to enter space when he flew aboard the Soviet rocket Soyuz T-11 launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic on April 2.

He quoted his immortal words, Saare Jahan Se Achcha, Hindustan Humara. And mentioned that ISRO will take India to farther galaxies and praised their work. “Rakesh Sharma, on how India looked from space, said Saare Jahan Se Achcha, Hindustan Humara. @isro will not just get us on the moon but to farther galaxies & we shall say with pride, Salute your efforts #ISRO. Jai Hind, #Chandrayaan2,” he tweeted.
